Recently I have felt pretty.. inspired, but pretty, too, as we should every day. This post should be a reminder to all women that we don't need make up to feel beautiful. Beauty comes from within. I know we’ve all heard this before, and I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but sometimes we forget to believe this. My boyfriend actually inspired me to write this because he says, "make up covers up your face and natural beauty, you don't need it."
I hardly put anything on, but recently I tried to go above and beyond to look a little extra pretty, and I ended up looking too overly done. Trust me, I am no make up professional, in fact, 99% of the time I do not wear anything but I love it. The times I do wear make up (which is the concealer under my eyes, mascara, a little bit of bronzer or blush for my pale face, and lipstick if I'm feeling it) is either for work or some special occasions. I hate the feeling of make up. I always had the fear of hugging someone, and my face would be imprinted on their shirt. If you love make up, or that is what you do for a living, more power to ya! Of course we want to feel perfect and gorgeous on the outside, but truth is, we don't need it. I want to inspire women to truly feel beautiful in your own skin, because guess what.. you ARE beautiful.
Being beautiful isn't just the appearance of your face. Being beautiful is happiness. Beauty is smiling, laughing, being kind. Beauty is more than a pretty face. I feel extremely pretty when I finished a work out class. Ironic, eh? When I am all sweaty, hair is a mess, with no make up on. That is when I feel beautiful because I did something great for my mind and my body. I feel beautiful when I eat something healthy, because I fuel myself with the right nutrition. I feel beautiful when I help others, because I realize beauty is not what you look like, beauty is who you are as a human being. Guess what? No one is perfect. I have had pimples before, I have dark circles, my skin can be oily yet dry at times, etc. My appearance, just as your appearance, should not define who we are within and how beautiful we feel.
When I purchase items from Ulta, Sephora or any other beauty store, I tend to purchase face wipes, cleansers, serums, lotions, face scrub, face masks, etc. Besides the products to buy, here are other ways to have fresh and healthy, glowing skin.
Getting enough sleep
It is very important to enhance the way you look and feel by getting an adequate amount of sleep. Your body repairs itself and recharges, so that alone should help with dark circles. Beauty sleep is a thing. Getting the right amount of sleep (6-8 hours) is sometimes hard, but we should always try to recharge.. our body needs it!
Working out
Being physically active is also important because it helps improve your blood circulation, helps get rid of toxins, increases oxygen to your skin, and gives you a boost of endorphins that will essentially reduce stress.
Drinking plenty of water
I am pretty bad about getting the right amount of water daily, which is weird because I live in a desert, so you would think I drink plenty. Nope, but I am working on drinking a minimum of 8 or more glasses of water daily! This helps flush out the toxins from your body, and creates a more "lively" skin complexion. Try adding cucumbers, lemons, mint leaves into your water as it gives you nutrients as well as hydration.
Exfoliate/Use Serums/Moisturizers
When you exfoliate, you are creating radiant skin. Shed off those dead cells that sit on the surface which can create clogged pores that lead to blackheads, acne and pimples. Exfoliate twice a week and use the correct moisturizers and serums after! Your skin will feel fresh and smoother! I've been using this lately.
Use sunscreen for your face
Wearing sunscreen helps the aging of skin. SPF 30 is your friend.
Eat healthy
Sure we want to splurge every now and then which is fine, but make sure your body receives the proper nutrients it needs as well. Fruits and vegetables should be included in your diet as it helps achieve healthy skin.
Drink green tea
Apparently green tea is a healthy beverage because it contains nutrients and antioxidants that are great for your body. I tend to drink coffee every morning, but I will be switching it up to green tea every now and then to see the difference!
Hope these tips help. What are some ways you feel beautiful? What do you do on a daily basis to have healthy, glowing skin?
